Tramadol is used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain in adults and adolescents over the age of 15 years.

Tramadol Hydrochloride  – the active substance in Tramadol Hydrochloride  hard capsules is an analgesic (pain-calming substance) that belongs to the class of opioids (such as morphine). It acts on the central nervous system and relieves pain by acting on specific nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain.

It is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pain in adults and adolescents over 15 years of age.

Tramadol Hydrochloride  should not be administered for longer than absolutely necessary. If long-term pain management with this drug is necessary, given the nature and severity of the disease, careful and regular monitoring (including therapeutic breaks, if necessary) to to check whether and to what extent continuation of treatment is necessary.


Dosage :

Acute pain:

The loading dose is 100 mg (2 capsules) followed by 50 or 100 mg (1 or 2 capsules) every 4-6 hours without exceeding 400 mg / 24 h (8 capsules).

Chronic pain:

The loading dose is 50 mg or 100 mg (1 or 2 capsules) followed by 50 or 100 mg (1 or 2 capsules) every 4-6 hours without exceeding 400 mg / 24 h (8 capsules).

Pediatric population:

Tramadol Hydrochloride is contraindicated in children under 15 years of age.

Elderly patients

Dosage adjustment is not usually necessary in patients younger than 75 years of age, in the absence of clinically proven hepatic or renal impairment. In patients older than 75 years, the elimination of the product may be delayed. Therefore, the dosing interval should be extended, if necessary, according to the patient’s needs.

Renal failure / dialysis and hepatic insufficiency

Elimination of tramadol is delayed in patients with renal and / or hepatic impairment. In these patients, an increase in the interval between doses should be considered according to the needs of the patient.


Side effects : 

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to tramadol (hives, difficult breathing, swelling in your face or throat) or a severe skin reaction (fever, sore throat, burning in your eyes, skin pain, red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling).

Like other narcotic medicines, tramadol can slow your breathing. Death may occur if breathing becomes too weak.

A person caring for you should seek emergency medical attention if you have slow breathing with long pauses, blue colored lips, or if you are hard to wake up.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

noisy breathing, sighing, shallow breathing;

a slow heart rate or weak pulse;

a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;

seizure (convulsions);

missed menstrual periods;

impotence, sexual problems, loss of interest in sex; or

nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, worsening tiredness or weakness.

Seek medical attention right away if you have symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as: agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Serious side effects may be more likely in older adults and those who are overweight, malnourished, or debilitated.

Long-term use of opioid medication may affect fertility (ability to have children) for men or women. It is not known whether opioid effects on fertility are permanent.

Common tramadol side effects may include:

headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tired feeling;

constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain;

feeling nervous or anxious;

itching, sweating, flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling;.

dry mouth
